❗️Canada’s PM urges probe into Israel’s handling of Gaza-bound flotilla
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Monday that Israel’s treatment of detained activists had been “appalling” and described conditions in Gaza as “catastrophic,” according to a statement from Carney’s office.
“The Prime Minister reiterated that the appalling treatment of civilians, including Canadian citizens, aboard the Gaza-bound flotilla was unacceptable, and he called for an independent investigation,” the statement said.
The statement added that Carney reaffirmed Canada’s opposition to illegal Israeli settlement expansion, settler violence in the occupied West Bank, and attacks on Palestinian civilians.
