❗️Bologna bans pro-Palestinian protest over unrest concerns
Authorities in Bologna, northern Italy, have prohibited a pro-Palestinian protest set for Tuesday, 7 October 2025, citing concerns over potential unrest after recent days of protests and clashes with police across Italy, a local representative of the Interior Minister reported.
The Giovani Palestinesi (Palestinian Youth) Italia group had organized protests in Bologna and Turin to mark the second anniversary of 7 October 2023.
“The demonstration will be absolutely prohibited,” said Enrico Ricci, Bologna’s local prefect, expressing fears of clashes following weekend violence in Rome. Giovani Palestinesi stated on Instagram that they intended to proceed with the protest despite the ban.
Israel’s ambassador to Italy, Jonathan Peled, objected to what he described as initiatives “that seek to glorify the October 7 massacre and successfully worked with Italian authorities to cancel the event,” according to Israel’s Foreign Ministry on X.
