A US federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration acted unlawfully by attempting to deport pro-Palestine student activists in order to silence criticism of Israel, violating their First Amendment rights.
Judge William Young, appointed under Ronald Reagan, condemned Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for abusing their powers, writing that Trump’s conduct broke his oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” and amounted to a “full-throated assault on the First Amendment.”
