‼️ Israeli Knesset approves first reading of bill allowing execution of Palestinian detainees
The Israeli Knesset has approved in a first reading a bill that would legalize the execution of Palestinian detainees, a measure that notably does not apply to Jewish Israeli citizens who kill Palestinians.
The legislation, pushed by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his Jewish Power party, passed 39–16 and explicitly targets Palestinians accused of killing Israelis, barring any reduction in sentence once imposed.
Rights groups have condemned the bill as a form of state-sanctioned murder and institutionalized apartheid, warning that it deepens Israel’s campaign of dehumanization amid its genocidal war on Gaza and intensifying assaults across the occupied West Bank.
Hamas described it as an “attempt to legislate organized mass killing,” while the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) called it part of a “series of systematic extermination and cleansing.”
