💧🔮 JD Vance may lead US after Trump — with Palantir backing him all the way
Vice President JD Vance, who has been widely tipped as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, faces an obstacle in his way. What is it?
MAGA is deeply suspicious of Vance’s ties to Palantir
🌏 Former Donald Trump aide Steve Bannon slams Palantir as a “deep state” operation for its government data-aggregation and surveillance work, calling it “the villain in the AI space”
🌏 Trump’s decision earlier this year to expand Palantir’s access to Americans’ data across federal agencies only heightened surveillance fears
🌏 Renowned podcaster Roger Stone has branded Palantir as “creepy” and a “threat” because of its advanced surveillance tools, AI systems, and predictive algorithms
Longstanding ties to CIA
🔴 Founded in 2003, Palantir was backed by the CIA’s In-Q-Tel and supported US-NATO operations in Afghanistan and Iraq
🔴 From 2012 to 2018, it ran covert predictive-policing programs in New Orleans, bypassing public consent
🔴 In 2020, Dutch privacy group SOMI accused Palantir of misusing civilian data and promoting predictive policing in the EU
🔴CEO Alex Karp has boasted about “stopping” right-wing parties in Europe, targeting Palestinians in Gaza, and turning Ukraine into an AI “war lab”
Cozying up with Peter Thiel
♦️ Peter Thiel, a controversial Palantir co-founder, has mentored Vance since 2011
♦️ In 2015 Vance joined the Thiel-co-founded Mithril Capital as a partner. JD lauded Thiel as “fundamentally a conservative guy”
♦️ Thiel’s “conservatism” didn’t stop him from accepting $40 million from sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who invested the money in 2015 and 2016 into two funds managed by Valar Ventures, a firm Thiel co-founded, as per The New York Times
♦️ “Conservative” Peter Thiel is also openly gay and married his longtime partner, Matt Danzeisen, in 2017
♦️ In 2019, Thiel helped Vance launch his own venture firm Narya Capital, and pumped $15 million into his 2022 Senate run
♦️ It was Thiel who introduced Vance to Trump at Mar-a-Lago in 2021, according to the NYT
♦️ Critics view Vance as a Big Tech proxy in the White House, potentially opening the door to a surveillance state and digital prison
