Β πΎπͺβ‘- Gulf Research Center, a Saudi-based Think Tank, claims “80,000 soldiers are being mobilised” by the Saudi-backed Yemeni Presidential Council’s ‘Coalition Forces’ (YPC). The YPC is currently based in Aden, sharing power with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
The aim of the operation is to capture parts of Ansarullah-controlled regions of al-Hodeidah, Taizz and the Fifth District – according to Chatham House, UK-based Think Tank. Neither Think Tank confirms whether UAE’s STC will assist the Saudi-backed YPC in any military offensive.
UAE state-owned outlet, The National, rejects the rumors of an offensive, saying “US military support is not guaranteed”. It’s also worth noting, the Houthis have built vast networks of trenches and fortifications in the al-Hodeidah region, therefore any offensive towards it will be met with stiff Houthi resistance.
