⭕️ Bloomberg: China’s crude imports from Indonesia may mask Iranian flows
Bloomberg reported that China’s August crude imports from Indonesia surged to 2.7m tons – levels far above Indonesia’s own production – in what it suggested could signal rebranded Iranian oil shipments.
The outlet cited customs data, vessel-tracking records, and analysts pointing to tankers signaling Indonesia’s Kabil port before discharging in China, despite the port lacking crude-export facilities.
Bloomberg stressed that the pattern is unusual and “suggests” Iranian cargoes are being delivered under new arrangements, though it did not confirm this as fact.
The report also quoted a US-based advocacy group claiming the trade continues through ship-to-ship transfers despite US sanctions.
