❗️Sudanese army rejects US ceasefire proposal, vows to continue fighting
Sudan’s army has rejected a US-backed ceasefire proposal, announcing plans to mobilize national support to continue fighting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which control much of western Sudan.
The decision came after an emergency meeting of the Military Defense Council chaired by army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
While the council thanked Washington for its mediation efforts, it said it would focus on uniting the public behind the armed forces to “eliminate the rebel militias” following the RSF’s recent capture of El-Fasher, the army’s last stronghold in West Darfur.
