Israeli far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem with a group of extremist settlers, praying for “victory in the war, the destruction of Hamas and the return of the hostages.”
His visit violates the longstanding status quo that restricts prayer at the site to Muslims under Waqf administration, a rule Israel has increasingly undermined.
