❗️Israel deports Greta Thunberg, 170 activists from Global Sumud Flotilla
Israel announced today that it had deported Greta Thunberg along with 170 other activists who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla it blocked last week from bringing aid to Gaza, sending them to Greece and Slovakia.
Earlier, Swiss and Spanish members of the flotilla reported being held in inhumane conditions by Israeli forces. With today’s deportations, the total number of people expelled rose to 341 out of 479 detainees.
In a statement accompanied by photos of Thunberg at the airport, Israel’s foreign ministry claimed that all participants’ legal rights had been respected and that the only act of violence came from an activist who bit a female medic at Israel’s Ketziot prison.
